Graceful Defiance

I see a swelling sea of suffering,
encumbered by grief,
trying to tread the treacled waters
of deep dread.
I also see a lifeline
flung far and wide,
sweeping its broad powerful line
to every last one -
however far submerged -
no matter -
all, it will gather.
I see the brazen brandishing of a sword,
defiantly swathing the manacles of
mistaken destiny.
I see choice,
the hoarse voice relinquishing
of pain’s body.
I see the gentle face
turning decisively towards the sun.
I see the graceful, sainted step
of surety.
encumbered by grief,
trying to tread the treacled waters
of deep dread.
I also see a lifeline
flung far and wide,
sweeping its broad powerful line
to every last one -
however far submerged -
no matter -
all, it will gather.
I see the brazen brandishing of a sword,
defiantly swathing the manacles of
mistaken destiny.
I see choice,
the hoarse voice relinquishing
of pain’s body.
I see the gentle face
turning decisively towards the sun.
I see the graceful, sainted step
of surety.
