Trust has no tender
No exchange rate
No interest rate
No price
No resale value
Trust has no bargains
Takes lifetimes to build
But seconds to spoil
Trust is a foundation
And honesty, its roof
Trust is a dying race
When you find it
Treasure it
Hold it to you
Like a small child
Nurture it
Trust opens us up
To an awakening
The vulnerability
That unzips us
Can also unmake us
Trust is risky
And misplaced,
It’s tragic
But trust is necessary
Without it
There is no hope
No exchange rate
No interest rate
No price
No resale value
Trust has no bargains
Takes lifetimes to build
But seconds to spoil
Trust is a foundation
And honesty, its roof
Trust is a dying race
When you find it
Treasure it
Hold it to you
Like a small child
Nurture it
Trust opens us up
To an awakening
The vulnerability
That unzips us
Can also unmake us
Trust is risky
And misplaced,
It’s tragic
But trust is necessary
Without it
There is no hope
