Experiences recent permeate my mind yet still I can't write poetry.
Cloud-clad pine mountains fill my memory but visions fail to translate
into words.
Perfection shown in postcard beauty tries to stimulate my creative
juices.
Barren landscape.

Now if you're are going for form, I would put
poetry
on a line of its own. I'd put
into
on to the previous line too.
I'm not sure about the last line. I lkie ti but...something...landscape/mind/postcard...needs to gel.
I'm telling all my friends. I'm the first person to get 3 pieces into Every Day Fiction e-zine. Were I young that woiuld be cool. At my time of life...THAT'S HOT.

Commiserations! I know the feeling - so often when you think you should you can't. My Granny always said - ought (as in ought to be able to) stands for nothing. But actually you have so well done!

V'yonne and Tina - many thanks!
V'yonne - I love form, but this wasn't really following any pattern; rather than a worked-out scheme, this one was a gut reaction, I think.
Tina - I have had so much writing time these last two weeks, but I have written NOTHING!! How frustrating!
Thanks for reading and taking the time....

Ah well, you squeezed a "writer's block" piece out of the barrenness!
I know very well what you mean. I have so much time available for writing, but where's the muse?!

V'yonne - thanks for the support!
Steve, thanks for reading - it seems to be that the more time I have, the less I can write! Frustrating.

Just a brief comment as I'm getting ready to go away for a few days. The three main stanzas read like three new attempts to write a poem, and each time the poem says you've failed. Not that you have failed, but it's that curious paradox - a poem about not being able to write a poem. 'Cloud-clad pine mountains' and 'postcard beauty' have been done to death anyway, so it's a poem about not being able to write about a subject that's so well-trodden it's hard to find anything new to say. Back next week.
James.

Hi Joanie - It must be an August thing. I haven't been able to write either - well I have three half started kind of things. And when I went away earlier in the year I didn't write a thing either. September soon!

It's amazing how a feeling of uncreativity can sometimes produce our best work.....I like this very much; though you may not have managed to make a picture of your holiday, you have given voice sparely and directly to something that should resonate very strongly with anyone who's ever attempted putting pen to paper.
Best,
Mike
