once upon a time
there lived a caterpillar
underneath a leaf
having a quick CHOMP, CHEW
knowing he's a thief

his taste buds sprang anew

i lifted the leaf
to my disbelief he spoke!
this is a joke, i thought

"don't hurt me please!
i won't do damage
except to your cabbage"

so i picked the leaf carefully

AND THREW HIM INTO NEXT DOOR'S GARDEN!

Hi Poppy

Very good!! and yes I do that as well - throw things into next door's garden. In fact i caught a huge spider in the bedroom one night, and knowing it would come straight back if i simply threw it out, I posted it through next door's letter box.

Did you intend to send the jokes by e-mail or do i now have a horrible virus on my machine???

Hi cariad,

The damage/cabbage rhyme made me laugh, and I can imagine this colourfully illustrated in a children's book.

You might want to look again at

his taste buds sprang anew

which seeemed somewhat strained, both in meaning and in order to end-rhyme with 'chew'. I'm glad s/he lived to chew on though - maybe she flew back into your garden to lay her eggs...
