The Ambrosial Embrace

Posted: 25 September 2003 Word Count: 105 Summary: Perhaps I will regret this one in the morning. |
|
Enfold me in your ambrosial embrace
so I can hear the fairies enrapture
me with their honeyed whispers.
Kiss away the tumultuous tears
that threaten to drown my
unhinged reason.
Protect me from grating realities
so I can dance in my fanciful field
of dizzy daisies and bountiful bluebells.
Let me live my lucid life
through worthwhile you.
I shun my heart’s haranguing.
I spit on its pernicious presence.
I scream at it to be silent.
I smother it with a pillow.
But it’s no good.
It will not be quiet -
it demands the relinquishment of cosiness,
it makes the final demand
to walk.
