CAVEMEN – OG AND THUG - SIT AROUND A RAGING FIRE. LOTS OF TYPICAL CAVEMAN NOISES LIKE GRUNTING AND THAT SORT OF THING ARE HEARD. THUG PUTS ANOTHER BIT OF WOOD ON THE FIRE.
OG: What you doing, Thug?
THUG: Me make fire. Me cold.
OG: No - no fire! Fire bad. Think of dinosaur.
THUG: What dinosaur?
OG: Exactly. Dinosaur all gone. And weather bad. First, no rain for long time, then rain for long time. Not normal. Not right. And land disappear by sea that come and wash it away and that why no fire. (POINTING) Greenhouse effect.

Works for me. Rather the the fascination with fire, the obsession with what it might do to the environment.
Wonder what else they might be concerned about? Campaigning against the invention of the wheel? Insulation their caves?
Anyway, I enjoyed it, thanks,
Ben

Cheers Ben. Actually, now you come to mention it, the possibilities are endless. Fortnightly collection of dinosaur poo and asbo's for doing cave graffiti cave painting. The list could be endless.

Great. I love the dialogue - really conjures up the characters. I'm not sure about 'greenhouse', though. I think you need a stone-age equivalent, but I don't know what that would be.

I agree with Cornelia, 'Greenhouse' doesn't really fit, but can't think of an alternative off hand.

I thought this was good fun - and as Ben said, the idea definitely has legs.
Excellent title btw. Regarding 'Greenhouse Effect' (and the idea that cavemen wouldn't be familiar with greenhouses), maybe just go for 'Global Warming' instead?
Great stuff!

I did actually give thought to the stone-age equivalent but that would have only served to remove the absurd perspective of the sketch. The incorperation of 'greenhouse' was never meant to fit or else the satirical absuritity wouldn't pay-off. Having said that, 'global warming' is a nice alternate because it fits in the same way as 'greenhouse'. In otherwords, a modern spin on a prehistoric subject.

I think you should definitely do another of these and see if you can develop a running gag. The idea is so incongruous!

When I saw the title eco-cavemen it immediately made me think of the scruffy cavemen and scruffy eco-warriors with the first looking down on the second.

I enjoyed this...
more could perhaps be made of it...
reference could be made to fossil fuel - with the response 'what fossil?'
or reference to the ice age - 'Need fire - getting icy'
or reference to smoking ban...
Lots of possibilites
A whole show maybe

Thanks Steve for the comments. Actually, the smoking idea led me to think about dinosaurs and how they became extinct and then it hit me - they smoked!
