I chose to crawl away,
to leave behind all that I was
and had always been.

In that moment I became
something more than you could allow -
just simply ME.

Your eyes like rubies wept,
selfish tears that didn't care,
for anyone but YOU.

We'd had our day, our chance.
Love withered so long ago,
leaving the carcass of US.

You took me right back to the day my wife and I parted ways.
The second and third stanzas floored me.

Hi Bobo

For me the best poetry is that which finds the most direct way to the heart. It normally requires an economy of style and absolute precision in the choice of words. This ticks every box.

Great stuff
