WIND TURBINES
BY MARTIN BAUM

A COUPLE ARE TRYING TO TALK BUT CANNOT BE HEARD ABOVE A LOUD ENGINE SOUND. THE MORE THEY TRY TO BE HEARD THE WORSE THE NOISE AND SO ON UNTIL, FINALLY, ONE OF THEM CLICKS A REMOTE CONTROL AND THE NOISE SWITCHES OFF.

WOMAN: (SHOUTING) I said how’s the new roof wind turbine?

MAN: (SHOUTING) Hardly notice it.

END

Very good! And there's a real market out there for "quickies" - so if you can write them as well as that you're going to be in demand!

And yes it was environmentally green. The smallest carbon footprint I've seen on a sketch for ages!

I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!

I think it's short and sweet and ridiculous.

Only question - I think I would have preferred it with the turbine on. I know that is not quite the same joke but I love the idea of them shouting against it and also I wonder why the first person shouts (the second person is practically deaf with it presumably but the first person is not used to it, are they?)

May be that is off the mark.

But love it. Perhaps we should all have a go at writing incredibly short sketches one week - really good to get it right down like that.

Thanks very much for all your comments. I just want to say how strange it is but despite the bloodless coup, I'm feeling a lot of love in this group right now. Who's up for a hug?

What? Can't hear you with that thing still on!

:) Works for me.

My mother-in-law lives on the sea front at Clacton, and will soon have a vista of 13 acrees of wind turbines. If the RSPB are to be believed, it'll cut down on the seagull problem. Although it may put tourists off when they find themselves wading amongst scores of washed up carcasses.

Bloodless? I've spat blood trying to upload my piece alone!
