Saturday well spent in necessary chores. Wholesome pursuits
of cleaning the débris of the week, while life goes on outside.

such a simplification of cleaning! Pity!
I take such pride in the meditative act of dried tomato sauce finally scrubbing free and the sparkly, lemon scented shine of a lasagna dish.
And vacuuming!

Structurally, I’m unsure what this is. With the 15 syllable verse I thought it might be a quinzaine but the beats fall: 3, 7, 5 and not: 7, 5, 3. and are followed by a second verse of the same pattern. They also seem unlike a quinzaine in that the two verses seem to be making one statement rather than making a single statement followed by questions. So I’m a bit lost, but I look forward to reading others’ comments and discovering what this is.

Thanks for reading, Juliet. It's no particular form (as far as I'm aware!); I just like form and patterns in poetry sometimes. All fascinating stuff, though! If anyone knows that it has a name, please enlighten us.

Joanie - I like the contrast between the world inside the house with the world outside. It is sooo therapeutic, cleaning, isn't it?
