Throwing in the towel

Unwinding inside a thoughtless
entrancing exit was always your

personal favourite act of war.
Mine a pitying pint of shining

black wagging a sprung tongue
at the inconvenience of facts.

Until you oiled my rusty lips
in lager gob, knocked me back

in one go, sinking loves punch
beneath the belt, beating my count

with the old 'one-two', your bell ringing
my seconds out. The fight finally stopped,

I removed my gum shield, bubbled my blood
onto the canvass & this time stayed down.
