No Life Without Light

The newborne emerges
From the womb’s tranquil twilight
Blinking astonishment
Into the beaming bright

The boat blindly drifts
Amidst the concealment of the night
Until the fiery red maiden appears
Raising her beacon to give sight

The pitted tunnels seem endless
The treacherous holes, pain invite
But as the reckless legs run the gauntlet
At its end, there is the inevitability of light

The burdensome sky crushes
Its oppressive clouds chill
But the axiomatic fact stands
Beyond the sun is shining still

With my last breath
Let me take up my sabre of light
Let me cut through the swathing darkness
With its omnipotent might

....out of the darkness, and into the light.
Liked the imagery of the 'sabre of light' - taking up arms.
Cool.
