Black days kill sunny skies
The rainbow hides, and dies
Thunder cries, she has no care
That barefoot gypsy girl

She dances, lightning strikes
Wildflowers at her feet
Rain-soaked skin, hear her sing
That barefoot gypsy girl

Clashing storm bangs like a drum
Meadow green, her stage
Raven hair, emerald eyes
That barefoot gypsy girl

Antique, mobile traveller's home
A caravan, a crystal ball
Home the romany road ahead
That barefoot gypsy girl

Lucky heather, bound by pegs
Selling at the travelling fair
Bringing the luck of the Irish
That barefoot gypsy girl

This has great rhythm and would make a wonderful song. Just a litle niggle about Irish and Gypsy in the same space ... I hear all sorts of different opinions on this, but the feeling is that 'Gypsy' should belong to the Romanies (although some people - especially in America - feel that Gypsy is a non pc term) and the Irish travellers are known as Irish Travellers. Of course, this changes like the wind...
I think Seamus Heaney has a poem about it in District and Circle, where he remembers the Gypsies of his childhood against the Travellers of today. Your poem also reminded me of the Van Morrison song.

Thanks Ninalara and Stephen...
When I'd finished I thought about writing some music for it... :)
