Your face drawn against the icy chill
Hands in empty pockets
Unprepared for the storm
that would rage
Although it was inevitable
that one moody, cloudy day
your inner child would cry
would weep real tears
would Christen your lapels
with torturous fear
Did you really think
you were infallible
indeed un fallable..
Have you not yet realised
that your true mission
is to see life
from your higher self
To see the value of joy
To feel the lessons of sufferance
And to learn from your mistakes
Much more than you could
from silk perfection

Inside of you
is a small child
who needs to be aptly loved
He needs to play, to laugh, to love
Why should he expect less
than to run through long grass
with sunlight hot on his head
Puffing appealing small breaths
when he sleeps
Instead of snoring
into infinite boredom
His eyes shining with excitement
at the thought of Santa Claus
instead of worrying
about how he can afford
to pay the mortgage

That child was once
and still is
Your third child
He needs you to hold him now
love him...
Tell him everything is OK
now you’re all grown and fixed
and wasted again..
whilst he is still vulnerable
in his thinner baby skin
Impatience won’t make him go away
I know this
I've tried....
Only understanding and love will endure
Believe me
I know this
