In Love With An Angel (a song lyric)

Summary: Another attempt at an alternative song lyric – to be sung to the tune of ‘Don’t Let Her Know She’s An Angel’ by Brian Wilson (again from his 'Getting In Over My Head' CD) I was using the idea of comparing the wax-and-feather wings of Icarus with the wings of an angel, as a metaphor for differing expectations within a relationship

I fell in love with an angel
I realise that my love was blind
Because, when she met with temptation,
My angel soon left me behind

She led me outside of Heaven’s gate
And she showed me what lay inside
I wonder if she could anticipate
The oceans of tears that I’ve cried?

CHORUS:
I knew that she is the one
But I flew too close to the sun
Icarian wings I discover
Could not fly as high as my lover

So why do I want her so badly?
We’d argue, I know, every day
And why do I love her so madly?
She’d just criticise what I say

Perhaps it’s because when I look at her
I see the angel inside
I can see demons pursuing her
And know why she feels she must hide

CHORUS:
I knew that she is the one
But I flew too close to the sun
Icarian wings I discover
Could not fly as high as my lover

But I wish that she’d reconsider
And see what her love means to me
And know how I long to be with her
To set any doubts she had free

Yes, I am in love with an angel
And hoping one day she may find
The Earthly delights that she’s looking for
Are here in what she left behind

Another winner, mickey.

Since its a song its easy to make some words last two or more beats, but I'm not sure if all the lines will fit the tune; some may have too many (or too few) beats. For example 1st line of last verse has one beat too many (compared with 1st verse); fix is easy (i.e. change I am to I'm.) Similarly the 3rd line of the last verse seems to long (10 instead of 8/9 beats).

Are you a singer too, Mickey? Have you heard it sung out loud?
