God I Love Your Ugly Love

God I love your ugly love
its broken toothed depth
the throaty morning mouth
on the nap of my stubble
backed neck and the kisses
offered up to the tea God.

Only the heathen cold linoleum trail
spoils my sad little kitchen pilgrimage
the steaming incense of the old kettle
slowly clouds on the blue plaster birds
I pad back to you in the dark processing
the last sacred ginger nut in the barrel.

You eat my holy offering,
a sexy snake enforcing
inside your necks fellatio
a ginger coated mouse.

God I love your ugly love.

Hmmm - well without punctuation this is initially a challenging, muscular read. Sex in the morning. Not pretty 'oh no, you first, but hark, I hear a dolphin' sex, but truthful.

The title - and opening and closing lines: 'god I love your ugly love' might be your only point? And hence the poem? And they're brilliant lines, I'm envious. A bit punk, dirty, not very attractive.

The tea and biscuits journey just doesn't work for me at the moment though, but maybe it will on a few more readings. Don't know why. I've written a poem which includes getting up and making tea in the middle of the night (not the same context though)and that poem was all about being f*cked up and tea and a cat being the normalisers - here I see tea and ginger biscuits being part of the sex, your journey through it.

I don't know if you love this person, or despise them, or are resigned to this act. Very interesting indeed.
