The Stirrup and the Ground

I知 caught between:

Rebellion and adoration;
Destruction and creation;

Reality and illusion;
Prophecy and delusion;

Clarity and confusion;
Paucity and profusion;

Logic and emotion;
The desert and the ocean;

The prison and the key;
The bars that keep me caged;
The hand that sets me free.

I知 caught between:

Giving without measure
Or self indulgent pleasure;

Profit without gain
Or sacrifice and pain;

The sacred or profane;
The glory or the shame;

The pride before the fall;
Letting go and giving all;

The prison and the key;
The bars that keep me caged;
The hand that sets me free.

I知 weighing my dilemmas
So heavy in my hand;

I知 sifting grains of perished salt
Or piles of unwashed sand.

I知 looking for some answers
And hope these may be found,

So I may reach the mercy seat
Between the stirrup and the ground.

Hi Robbie,

Welcome to WW. I really enjoyed this poem. It has a great mirror effect and captures the human dilemma superbly. I can see how it would easily be fit to music too.

I noticed one typo: That bars that keep me caged;The hand that sets me free. Should it be 'the bars'?

Great stuff.

I know very little about poetry, othen than what I like, and I like this.

It's a powerful piece of work that speaks volumes to the reader. It makes me question my own choices in everyday life.

Excellent stuff. Please post some more.

Rgds,
Steve
