Well I tried and failed
The hurt and loss detailed
Etched into my bleeding heart
Smothering me in clouds of dark.

Every second is a feeling of loss
The wonderful memories that time has forgot
By myself, alone I’m standing
In this world that is so demanding.

Tossing and turning awake in my bed
With these feelings that I dread
For I know that I am losing my love
My angel will fly just like a dove.

Unable to carry the pain in my soul
The love I once had has taken its toll
So I’ll give up and run away
For what I once had has gone today.

I wonder if you are still around, LiverbirdLou...I came across your poem which you posted last August and the (presumably real) pain you were experiencing comes through very strongly. I was intrigued by the couplet style and the half-rhymes of 'heart/dark' and 'loss/forgot'. I hope that the pain which the poem expresses has been replaced by happiness!
Richard.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your comments. Yes I'm still here :o) This poem was written after the break up of a serious relationship in 1999. I'm now very happy and tend to only write happy poems as I'm married now with a daughter.

Take care,

Louise
