I saw my neighbour
chopping down his
cherry tree. He sought
to make a fire with it?
Will you use the wood
against the biting cold?
No, I have a map to make,
I have a road to build.

This has a marevllous effect. Yes, it immediately recalls George Washington. Then the further meaning I am pondering over.

Excelent, though you could have added,
"I have a country to father."

Hi Fevvers

just read this on the
random -poetry link. I like it. Short
and to the point with a feeling
of a haiku to it or some other
proverb type of poetry (japanese)
maybe...in the mode of E Pound?
