Priorities gnaw at my mind.
To change them would turn my world upside-down.
Priorities gnaw at my mind.

Joanie - agh! Priorities. I think I know what your saying here, and the repetition seems to suggest right now, the priorities have to stay the way they are. Gnawing at your mind. Interesting.

Interesting piece Joanie. Made me think about what priorities are and if and how they converge with values. It has a kind of obsessive feel about it - reinforced I guess with your summary. Hmmm. One to ponder over.

Hi Joanie
Something about the structure of this poem makes it gnaw...if you see what I mean. I felt it touched on something deeper. Gnawing away at your mind are these 'oughts' which if let go would turn your world upside down - which would be a good thing I feel. S

Thanks for reading Shika. I thought it would be good to somehow physically invert the last two lines and change them to something positive. I'm sure I can't do that on here, though.

I sensed some depth here; prioroites are usually set for a day or a week, yet if changed your entire world is changed. Large changes can flow from small ones; like the butterfly effect perhaps? Or am I reading too much into it?

I think there is a lot in this poem. Priorities isn't defined, giving the reader some freedom. Could be going to the pub or working, if you prioritise one thing too much it can have an adverse effect. Always best to have a healthy balance.

Brian and Stephen, thank you so much for reading. No, Brian, you're not reading too much into it.
