Whoever told you that what I have is not enough,
that who I am is not good enough
just has it so wrong.

Like the seasons of the earth I have my moments-

a time when I’m gentle and good-natured,
warm and embracing

a time when I’m reticent,
preferring the company of my very self

a time when I am aloof,
abrasive in character,
not anyone’s best friend but -it does pass on

a time when I am spirited,
infectiously dynamic,
nothing and no one can put me down
Like you I am mortal-
with a body mind and soul
able to love and needing to be loved

That’s good enough for me
that who I am is not good enough
just has it so wrong.
Like the seasons of the earth I have my moments-
a time when I’m gentle and good-natured,
warm and embracing
a time when I’m reticent,
preferring the company of my very self
a time when I am aloof,
abrasive in character,
not anyone’s best friend but -it does pass on
a time when I am spirited,
infectiously dynamic,
nothing and no one can put me down
Like you I am mortal-
with a body mind and soul
able to love and needing to be loved
That’s good enough for me
