We like coffee
And cigarettes
And those TV programmes
on tonight at 9
That’s Tuesday evenings sorted for the next ten weeks
A glass of wine
Looking forward to a glass of wine tonight
A pint of beer
And I worried lunch was going to be boring
Praise God for that man
Who long ago left his fruit too long
In a carved out tree trunk
Rotting
(I praise the kid who has a fag to be cool
over the 30-year-old who smokes to fill the time)
We like coffee
And wine and TV
And a bit of bad news
somewhere else in the world
Cigarettes
Naughty food
Explosions on TV
To take our mind off the fact that we
are really so scared
Bored
Incapable
So unpracticed
At living
And cigarettes
And those TV programmes
on tonight at 9
