A Path So Treacherous

The paths were many in the woods
Yet my eyes fell upon one,
I was led onto this path
Though,
It was not the one of my choice
It led me to a season: mid autumn
Brown leaves falling around
Leaving the trees bare as winter drew near,
And I left nauseated
Longed to leave the path
As I carried on,
The season changed
This time for spring,
Flowers flourished
Filling the air with that fresh rosy scent
I was enjoying this trail
Caught up in the swirling fresh breeze
My path littered with beauty
Far ahead lay a quiet lake within sight,
But off the path
How it called out to me
I knew I shouldn’t have left the path
But the temptation was much too strong,
I wondered what I would be missing
And finally gave in
Sat by the cool still blue water and touched it
There my heart froze.
Yet my eyes fell upon one,
I was led onto this path
Though,
It was not the one of my choice
It led me to a season: mid autumn
Brown leaves falling around
Leaving the trees bare as winter drew near,
And I left nauseated
Longed to leave the path

There my heart froze.
