Self feeling for sorry

I am awkward again,

to make my promises
costs me a knock down
my pathetic love upper
cut from consciousness

by an unlucky punch.

To rise from my knees
scrapes the skin away
from a bony boys leg
between sock & shorts

thirty four years grown

still I cannot reach
the top shelf of love
still cannot be cosy
with my private wound.

Only once did someone love

enough to bare the drought
to gobble my arms up & down
there she rested her tortures
on me & brushed my red curls

only once did someone love.

You reminded me how lonely
the crowds have really been
how love gives to lust what
the first morning kiss wants.

After the first love
there is no other love
after the first lust
there is no other lust.

Only once did someone
love me less than living
only once did someone
drink me in the desert

only once did someone
thirst for me like that.

Ooh, very powerful and bitter. And I love the build up to the very bleak and poignant end.

LoL
