This silent open mouth
yawns with impotence,
a pauper's voice amongst
the affluence of those who
can talk and walk from this place.
Words once trivial
or casually thrown aside
I now mine like coal.
A simple yes or no would be
a symphony to this soul.
The silence traps me
behind its dreadful wall
as this sentence, unlooked for
pricks at my eyes and love,
love can only hang between us
unsaid.

Williamwords, this is very well-conveyed. It must be awful losing your voice, but what a fantastic medium poetry is! I can actually hear a voice saying this as I read, so all is not lost!!
I particularly like
Words once trivial
or casually thrown aside
I now mine like coal.

An excellent metaphor - mining words. We take for granted the ability to voice our thoughts. Working as hard as a miner to extricate the words is thought-provoking.
I enjoyed this.
