Sitting here how strange it seems,
A bullets speed, a lifetime's dreams.
The earth's strange carpet far below
what I cannot see I cannot know.
Suspended here between sea and sky
safe from all the questions why;
This gentle time before the day
arrives and dreams will melt away.

A lovely moment of suspended animation and involuntary objectivity. Nicely put.

I find it very strange to be 'hanging in the sky'. The feeling here is very well conveyed. I particularly like 'Suspended here between sea and sky
safe from all the questions why'
, partly because of all the 's' sounds but also because you have captured it perfectly.
