Kathleen was born in 1951, is married with five children and seven grandchildren to date. Several years ago, due to illness, she lost the sight in her left eye.
"They say that if you can remember the 1960's then you weren't there. So that's 10 years of my life missing then! Strange that I can remember most of it. In fact 1967-69 were the best three years of my life. Needless to say, some of my experiences from those years have provided material for several poems - 'The Road To Cushendall' being a prominent one.
I actually wrote my first poem at the age of five. Its title, 'Autumn Leaves', although it has long since been forgotten, it must have been pretty good as the teacher wanted to set it to music. Sadly, this didn't happen. I never wrote another poem until I reached my 40's. Most of my children had by then grown up, so my latent creativity resurfaced. And that's how it's been ever since. Months of nothing, then a short burst where I might produce from three to seven new pices of work. Not bad for someone whose English teacher condemned her at the age of 14 as being 'unimaginitive' (I was lousy at essays).
I realise this doesn't tell you much about me - I was hoping it might encourage you to read some of my poems to see if they reveal my secret self. If so, I hope you enjoy them at least."
