I've been writing since I was a student. My published books include titles on Creative Writing, UFOs and an acclaimed football memoir; Singin' the Blues.

I've had a few radio plays performed and written scripts for television and radio. One play - Mr Lennon - helped the digital station Oneword Radio to win the Sony Radio Award as Best Digital Station in 2002. The same play was adapted for live performance in New York and earned me nominations for a Sony Radio Award and Richard Imison Memorial Award. One project in progress at the moment is the official biography of Darts legend Andy 'The Viking' Fordham.

I've worked regularly as a journalist and comedy writer throughout my career. One sick comedy novel - Raiders of the Low Forehead - earned stunned reviews, The Times stating it was 'enough to make a sane person weep,' yes it really is that far out there. On the other hand I've done lots of wholesome writing for children including scripting for Sooty Films and - in 2004 - co-founding the childrens' media company Penniesworld (penniesworld.co.uk).

I've worked in education alongside the writing career. From 1999 I have been Pathway Leader of an HND in Professional Writing, moving to a Foundation Degree in Professional Writing from 2005. This course, developed by myself, was the UK's first full-time Higher Education course in the subject. Other projects include a ground-breaking workshop for The Heart of Kent Hospice that led to a published book in 2006.
