and the girl who was a woman, let her head fall to the floor
where all the messy contents spilled out like a flood in Jaipur
and it was there we saw Rapunzel, dancing with her Shrek,
and it was there we saw Pink Panther, kissing Odette the swan no more,
and I remember twelve dwarfs slouching on velvet sofas, reciting Byron and Keats
and of course there was Cruella, eying Lassie the dog.
but apparently all this has changed now,
now that the girl has let go of her head
and instead of the fantasy, so chimerical it disappeared like a one second miracle
this woman/girl/mind-body organism is off hauling her dreams into reality
and I stand and I watch at the sweat and the pain
like a wet rag she gives everything,
everything is nothing,
and nada est totum,
come and hurdle a mountain and you'll fly,
like a girl who is now a woman,
and yet neither
anything and everything
lets acknowledge,
our wings and spread them,
before it gets too late.
