Word Count: 168
Summary: You may well know him.

The Sci-Fi nut is searching
through the T.V times to see
if there’s any programmes,
that are linked with astronomy.

He always speaks with retrospect
like hero ‘Rocket Sam’.
A memorabilia fruitcake
as made by Auntie Fran’.

The zooming of a saucer,
the thrusting of a flame.
In making tea and crumpets
his world is all the same.

A far-fetched solar-system
he sees in Metro’s map.
The outer-post of Rochdale.
The route to Watford Gap.

Driving an Orion
he buckles up his belt.
Fording local rivers
as Highlander the Celt.

He likes to spray his forehead
with an anti-sticky spray.
Just in case the Daleks
Post him lollies for Christmas day.

Once entering the atmosphere
with flame retardant slippers,
he misaligned his landing spot
and fell on granddad’s kippers.

The staircase is his ladder
to the world of the beyond.
His bedroom carpet slithers
with the weed from next door’s pond.

While setting his alarm clock
he reassures himself,
We’re past the planned invasion.
Today’s July the twelfth.
