Proverbial Reflections

If I were a bull in china shop,
I would start with the Wedgewood
and move swiftly on
to the Royal Doulton.

If I am what I eat
I would look a bizarre combination
of a marmite solider,
a bacon sandwich
and a Seabass.

Spilt milk isn’t worth crying over -
the neighbour’s cat always laps it up
and as for burning bridges,
it is not only logistically difficult,
it also carries a minimum sentence
of five years.

Learn from other’s mistakes -
after months of litigation,
the pot was sued for slander -
the evidence was incontrovertible -
the kettle was indeed chrome.

Thankfully eggs rarely end up
in the same basket…
factory packing machines
are wized up -
size does matter.

All is certainly well that ends well
but it’s even better
if it’s well at the beginning
and for the duration.

And finally , no man is an island,
he is at best
a rocky protuberance
gathering barnacles
and if all’s fair in love and war,
wear a seatbelt and a crash helmet.
