Someday

Those eyes,
what do they hide?
Do they hide unspoken pain, or
a tear shed in love?
It’s so easy to forget it all,
when I’m lost gazing into
those beautiful eyes.

That smile,
it ends a thousand heartbreaks.
A smile that always brings a laugh,
a laugh that in turn
always warms the soul.
Watching you contently
makes my spirit smile.

Your hold,
so sweet yet rare
Just perfect, not too tall
and never smothering.
Close my eyes and drift away,
I’m safe with you,
protected by your embrace.

Just you,
in all your eccentric ways
but you’re not so strange to me.
Your personality shines,
through the thickness of night,
in you a comfort I find.

I can’t dream,
because my body won’t sleep,
my heart cannot settle,
with asphyxiating anxiety
I lay, encasing butterflies,
because you’re not here.

Love, something that brings us all
pathetically sobbing
to our knees.
But still I get back up again,
trying to stand.
Because of a far off thought,
that may never be.
