I don’t know whether or not this was generally believed, but when I was growing up - which was a very long time ago - it was claimed locally that if you buried a sixpenny piece in the garden, you’ll never be short of money. I did it with sixpence donated by my granny. It didn’t work. This poem is a warning to others.

If you plant a sixpence
You won’t get a sixpence tree
Just a rusty sixpence
This seems a shame to me
