I occasionally think of Irene
Didn’t know her well
Suppose I do it out of duty
If I’m being honest, there’s no other reason
She was with us for eighty-six years
Never had many friends, if any, probably none
And I doubt anyone else ever recalls her
And surely someone ought to bring her to mind from time to time
After all, if not, what were those eighty-six years for?
So I occasionally think of Irene
