Magic Exists

Posted: Saturday, October 31, 2020 Word Count: 70 Summary: For this week’s prompt and a lot more practical than my usual Halloween shenanigans. With another lockdown looming, I take peace from the little things and the comfortable things. For me, that’s magic. |
Magic exists.
The pixie dust
disintegrates
Into adulthood.
The promise
of happy ever after
dies with each
application for
Universal Credit.
Every redundancy,
a fairy’s tear.
Rumplestiltskin
spinning loneliness
around the shielding.
Yet, magic exists.
My mother, alive
in my niece’s smile.
Trees,
showering leaves
like blessings.
Every step apart
brings us closer
in heart.
As if
this is how
it should be.
Cruel as it seems
magic exists.
