The red-nosed reindeer Rudolph,
who we know guides Santa’s sleigh,
would surely be called a caribou
if he lived in the USA.
 
But ‘Rudolph the red-nosed caribou’
just doesn’t sound the same,
so how about a nose bright blue,
and a subtle change of name?
 
‘Clive the Cosmic Caribou’
would prove a great delight
with a shiny nose that glows bright blue
like a squad car Christmas Night.
 
But I must admit, Clive sounds a bit
discordant to the ear. So it’s just as well
where Santa dwells,
caribous called reindeer.
