To drag herself out of the cesspit of life, that was the plan, but every time she managed to heave herself up onto her elbows, someone, or something just came along and pushed her back in.
This was how Dawn’s life had been for the past few years. It was one step forward and two steps back. She just needed an opportunity, any opportunity. She needed something to happen, that would change the direction of her life in which had remained stationary for as long as she could remember. She needed to be brave.
She had read somewhere, that no one could do this for you, it had to come from within. It was time to take the bull by the horns and get out there. First things first, a new haircut, apparently in women's magazines that could be life changing. She booked her appointment, to have it cut shorter and highlights put in her mousy brown shoulder length hair.
Wow what a difference, she felt a million dollars as she walked out the salon. She saw people looking at her for the first time. She had been invisible for the past two years. She decided she liked the people looking at her, she popped into Superdrug and grabbed a foundation, mascara and lippy. It was amazing what a new look does for your confidence she thought.
Next stop was some sexier underwear, she knew no one was going to see them, but hey why not. She picked a padded bra which apparently made you two sizes bigger, with matching knickers and beautiful silk stockings. Geez they will see me coming she smiled at the thought.
Why not go the full hog she contemplated and get a whole new outfit, bag and shoes; she had bought neither for a long time. It felt so good to rummage though the clothes rail, picking up colours of clothes that she would never have considered before. She was excited to get home and put the ensemble together.
She laid everything out on the bed and smiled. After having a luxurious bubble bath, and smoothing cream on to her hairless body. This was it, the time. She plucked her eyebrows into an arch applying her makeup the best way she could. She was amazed and could not believe what was transforming in front of her. She felt tears come to her eyes. Never had she looked so beautiful or felt so feminine.
Taking her time to dress, her movements were sultry and seductive; slipping her feet into her 4 inch stilettos she began to feel stirrings within her groin, feelings that she had never experienced before. This was how it felt to be a woman. She looked at the finished product, never had she felt so real and alive.
Dawn was now ready to step out and face the world as a woman for the very first time. She closed the door behind her as she stepped outside; knowing that the Derek she used to be, was now gone, he was now her past. She had finally made the decision for her future, to become a woman and was now ready to face a new Dawn.
