The wife’s just enrolled at Evening School.
She’s training to be a ventriloquist.
She says that at love I’m a total fool
and, for her, there’s no more marital bliss.

So I asked her “Why ventriloquism?”
She said “Well isn’t it clear? –
as I’m married to such a dummy already
at least I’ll have got’ll the gear”

She said that, if I were to sign up as well
it would make our love-life grand.
I don’t need to know how to throw my voice,
just learn where to stick my hand.

(At least, I think that’s what she said –
her voice was coming from the suitcase!)
