A Prayer for Goodbyes

All of our love
Dressed up in warm days
My legs pale and restless
Your heart in its place
Chopped up finely now
In pieces
On plates

All our compassion
Those peak golden hours
My impotent words
Your reassuring showers
Are draining away
In childish spite of
Such critical care

All of our spirits
Of moments connected
Our devilish karma
Winks; lies undetected
Breaks down Shen and Qi
An energetic scattering
Of simplistic debris

(you and me; you and me; you and me)

And all of that time
Those glistening years
My sparkling tears
Your overly buoyant
River of pain
Drips slowly away
In its handfuls again.....

To a sea
where dying love flows
To the air
where voices mute fanciful prose
To a higher place
where everyone knows
Truth belies
what mere lowly souls
cannot possibly know
