He wanted to remain
in her secret attic
To make his awkward way
down the runway
the illuminated pathway
that led to her
To play in her yard
swing on imaginary ropes
balance on her seesaw
Play peek a boo
with lacy underwear
he wanted to call in sick
To not be noticed missing
Not appear on milk cartons
in the US of A
To not be asked to role play

But to be naked and raw
In her arms

To be soothed and stroked
Like a non chalant kitten

Without kid gloves
