Word-nest (Phoenix):
Words burn to ash on my tongue as I try
to find… words churn and splash on my tongue as
I try to find… words gurn and mash on my
tongue as I try to find… words spin and crash
on my tongue as I try to find… words yearn
to slash with my tongue as I try to find…
words; worn, rash, kith to my tongue, as I try
to find… words about-turn on my tongue as
my lips whisper… words…
turn ash into dust, dust into ova, and hence whisked to speech.
The words soon take over. Swiftly unloosed,
fully alive now, they soar and they thrust.
Flocks darken the eye, words flying, they screech,
swooping and diving, coming home to roost.
