Dance With Me

Dance with me through all the cold of Christmas Past
When promises were born to fade away
Then die again by Easter in the emptiness of arms
When the colours of the rainbow drained to grey
Dance with me until the frosts have gone again
And crocuses are showing through the snow
Let us plan a stolen weekend far away
And share a secret only us two know
Dance with me until the warmth of Spring returns
When we can go on picnics in the park
Or buy our tickets for the tours of stately homes
And sit and eat our sandwiches and laugh
Dance with me towards the paths of Summer sun
Where New Year resolutions never last
And promises of love are prone to cut and run
To die beneath the rampant August grass
Dance with me again before our time has gone
Let’s quick-step through the shadows of today
Tomorrow when the music falters to its end
Let’s not wish that we’d not been afraid
