Always

Tendrils of the past
Floating like golden fronds
In the undulating waves of remembrance
The sun's keening shafts
Pierce the flashes
Of my folded creaseless memories
Of him,
Radiance flooding my dark handsome stranger

That first long lost moment
So gilded in lustrous woven magic
It held out no trembling tempting arms for tomorrow
Instead shrouded us in eternal infinite spheres
Bleeding the lines of time

His being still rapes my mind
A constant aching stabbing intrusion
Effecting larceny of my need
My breathless dread one day to find
A blank, an aged sightless vision
No more his sagacious gracious face to see
His union to my journey's diary
To cease
Unthinkable, untenable, unbearable
Unbreakable.

I am bound to him more surely than
A hangman's noose
Slipping in and out of our conscious lives
He garbs me in his forgiving friendship robes
In clinging liberating sure invisibility
With one nebulous touch each time
Our grateful missing souls align
