Our Comfort Zone

Summary: Mutual acceptance of who we really are brings a comfort that is denied to most........

At long last I can sleep again
Breathing rhythmically
in perfect sequence
Me, with you
and you, with me
My head on your familiar chest
I have, in grief, come home to you
to weep my contrition
into those cloudy pools
where once we may have drowned

My leg wrapped, languishing
over beaches of spent bed
miles of golden sands
And there we lie
still as corpses
Minds, calm on calm
with just the sound of seas
many seas….
For we can hear them all
when time finally stands still

And so, with you so close to me
not even a cigarette paper
could separate us now
Unreluctant spoons
we lie and turn in perfect time
And in the darkness
we can synchronise
dance like spirit wolves
one, encircling the other
until settlement is finally struck

And in blessed mornings
when stark daylight sneaks
leaking from curtain edges
Bringing in daydreams
indistinguishable from visions
wherein moons were draped
from weary blackness
We are Gods, Goddesses, Golden couples….
observed in the final blink of watching eyes
so that now we, you and I,
can finally sleep
