No Time like the Present

by  Brian Aird

Posted: Sunday, December 4, 2005
Word Count: 53
Summary: In tribute to a 70 year old friend with Motor Nurone disease.

Fleeting glimpses
of happiness, snapped
held in a cupped hand

useless legs
twisted, feeble
don't get around

phone calls, emails
form a life line
make a difference

gentle humour
probes weakness
makes me whole again

he remains
damaged, beyond repair
yet still the same

for love is
not discarded
like his old boots
