you loved the high wire acting
you loved the french kiss of hate
and the anarchy of forgiveness

you loved the science fiction of facts
you loved to swim with the wild piranhas
and feel their teeth cutting you free

you loved to treat me like glass
you loved to look through me
as if I didn't exist until I did

even as my hands let go the rope
even as my body fell through space
you carefully buttered your fingers.
