Dad in his own words

Anger at the things God overlooks..
Cold sandwiches
Plain painted walls
Stiff taps and ill-fitting doors
"This home isn't mine"

Anger at the big things God ignores..
War in his name
War for Democracy's sake
War over his name
"No war for God's sake"

Puzzled by God's riddles..
Here's your world
I'm just off
Have fun
"Is that it?"

Puzzled by salvation..
Here's my son
He makes me proud
To die for the world I created
"That can't be it"

Anger at never having the time..
To say you're sorry
To write it all down
To find God
"I can never figure it all out"

On dying..
"I don't know what else I can do"
"I think I'm going to die"
"Thank you"

Oh, Brian, there is something indefinable about writing about one's Dad! It is so heart-wrenching, somehow, I think.

This made me feel very emotional. I can see my own dad here.

Thought-provoking and achingly lovely.

I did enjoy this!
